Our Impression
Söderfors is a place that reveals itself gradually. As you arrive at Bruksgatan, the surroundings change and you suddenly find yourself in a historic mill setting where the story of the town, the manor and the nearby steelworks are closely connected.
For weddings, there is much more here than we first expected.
One of the things we particularly like is that couples have their own private house for the celebration. Having a space that truly feels like yours for the wedding creates a sense of privacy that can be difficult to find at a hotel, while still having accommodation, food, service and everything else you need close by.
The setting by the water is another strength, as is the church just a few minutes' walk away. Civil ceremonies can also take place on site, giving couples several possibilities for how they want to structure the day. And then there is Potatisbunker. A hidden bar tucked away underground and one of those unexpected details that guests are unlikely to forget.
We were also pleasantly surprised by how much Söderfors has developed. The rooms feel warm and inviting, there are experiences such as the floating sauna, and the team continues to invest in and develop the property.
While Söderfors works beautifully during the warmer months, we would particularly keep this venue in mind for a winter wedding. Here, you have the possibility of a proper snowy Swedish setting without travelling all the way to the north and with Stockholm and Arlanda still within relatively easy reach. Söderfors also lends itself well to a full wedding weekend rather than simply one evening.
For us, its greatest strength is exactly that: the possibilities. Summer by the water, an autumn celebration surrounded by history or a snowy winter wedding, there are many different ways to make Söderfors your own.
